What You Need To Know About Kitchen Bar Stools

By James Lindum

An excellent way to quickly and easily update the look and feel of your kitchen is with the addition of a kitchen counter and matching kitchen bar stools. They are an ideal place to grab that meal on the go; or for someone to sit and chat as you potter about.

Whilst it is best to buy your stools when you first install a counter, it is perfectly possible to leave this until all works have finished. Alternatively, simply changing the kitchen bar stools can update an existing breakfast bar.

It is also necessary to measure the height of course, certainly if you intend to buy wooden stools for a traditional or country kitchen. Whilst many of the other types available are adjustable, it is important to ensure that these slot easily under the counter at the lowest height setting, and can be set to a comfortable height for everyone.

As a rule, kitchen bar stools are about thirty inches from floor to seat; though this can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. It is also good to get something that has adjustable foot rests too; if these can be worked into your budget.

With so many types to go for though, it can be tricky to get the right look. The first consideration is to make sure they will compliment your interior, and the design of counter you have gone for of course.

For modern and contemporary interiors, stainless steel and aluminum stools will fit in wonderfully well. These tend to be controlled by hydraulics; via a simple lever beneath the seat. Many of the high end ranges have ergonomically sculptured seats too and are extremely comfortable.

These can be expensive however; but a similar look and feel can be achieved from more affordable plastic and composite models. These are readily available and, despite being a good deal cheaper, often function and last just as well.

Traditional types, often made of wood of course, can look stunning. Whilst modern kitchen bar stools tend not to have a full back rest or arms, these do. Whilst comfortable anyway; this can be further enhanced with cushions; which can create color and warmth to a space too of course.

No matter the style, design, material and control; it is paramount the kitchen bar stools can stand up to constant use of course. It is also worth remembering that they need to be easy to clean; it is almost certain that food and drink spillages will happen every now and then after all! - 33383
