A Kitchen Planner for the Do-It-Yourself Designer

By Matthew Kerridge

This is not the time to be selling and buying homes. The market is so volatile that it makes more sense to spruce up your existing home with a new designer kitchen. You don't have to hire an expensive interior designer for this. You can do it yourself with a kitchen planner. If you are contemplating selling, your new kitchen may be very well more than pay for itself.

The first thing potential home buyers look at is the kitchen. The kitchen, far more than the living room, is the heart of the home and everyone wants a kitchen that makes them feel at home. If you have remodelled your kitchen, you may find that you don't want to sell your house, because your new kitchen makes it feel like a home again!

Use a kitchen planner before you even start to look for a company to build your kitchen. You know what you need more than even a kitchen designer does and it's so easy to design your own, with the features you want. If you can, try adding an island bench or peninsula. You will find that your new kitchen will be even more useful with this extra space.

Isn't it a bother to have to get down on your hands and knees to fish out that seldom used pot that sits in a dark corner of your kitchen. Use your kitchen planner to see if you can fit a more modern corner cabinet into the corner for no more creepy dark spaces. You will be amazed by how much extra storage space it gives you.

How many drawers do you have in your existing kitchen? The standard four drawer kitchen cabinet may not be enough. Why bend down to get to your plates and bowls, for instance, when you can use your kitchen planner to help you put specially designed drawers to house your plates and bowls. Many of the top kitchen designers dispense with cabinet doors altogether because drawers are so much easier.

When you have all your cabinets and cupboards just where you want them, then you can bring out your inner interior designer and select the colors and materials for your kitchen. There are so many ways you can make your kitchen look like a designer kitchen without breaking the bank.

The greatest thing about a kitchen planner is that you can work out all the details before you have your kitchen built and installed. When that work is done, you won't wish you had done something else. It will be perfect for your needs and the colors will be just right. You just might find people offering to buy your home because your new kitchen has added so much value to it. But will you want to sell? - 33383
